Acceptable Formats for the 2012 Grantham Prize

Newspaper or Magazine

Printed PDF copies of published pieces are encouraged. If possible, entrants are encouraged to include one actual clipping or tearsheet, as published, with each entry, in which case the tearsheet(s) would count as one of the required seven copies. In the absence of a printed PDF version, clear and legible photocopies (not reduced in size) on standard 8.5 X 11-inch or 11 X 17-inch paper are acceptable. An article or series reassembled from its original form into a reprint is acceptable as long as all components are reprinted in full. Please do not submit entries in protective plastic sheets or within binders. Submit seven complete, collated copies.

Television

Television entries must be submitted on DVD. The entrant is responsible for assuring DVD submissions can be accessed on both PC and Mac platforms. Prize entries must be unedited and as they were originally aired or transmitted. Each DVD must be labeled with entry name, affiliation, and length in minutes. Submit seven copies.

Radio

Radio entries must be submitted in CD or DVD format. Each CD/DVD must be labeled with entry name, affiliation, and length in minutes. Entries must be unedited and as they were originally aired or transmitted. Submit seven copies.

Books

Books must be submitted in their complete form and as published, either hard or soft cover. Verbatim paperback editions of hard back editions published in the same calendar year are acceptable. Paperback editions of hard back editions published in the previous calendar year are acceptable only if the hard cover edition was not previously entered for the Grantham Prize. Entrant may request that six copies be returned once judging is complete. Submit seven copies.

Online

Entrants must provide the date and publisher/outlet of first appearance of the entry along with the URL(s). In the entry summary, describe all the web-based components (e.g., video, text, audio, etc.) to clarify the scope of the entry for the jury. Where applicable, include non-Web components or supplements to the story and specify where and when they were published or aired (e.g., TV, radio, or print outlets). If a subscription or registration is required to access the story or series, provide a username and password. Printouts of the submitted story or series are acceptable, but must be printed as the entry originally appeared on the Web. Submit seven copies.
